How to Insert and Crop Images in a Google Slides Presentation

If you want to tell stories or share ideas in an attractive way, here is a good tutorial for you. We will show you how to add images, and crop, apply shape masks to them right within your Google Slides presentation. Now, let’s get started!

Adding Images to Your Presentation

  • Open your Google Slides presentation.
  • Select the slide that you need to add an image.
  • Click the Insert tab on the toolbar, select Image. Now you can choose where to get your image from.

  • To add an image from your computer, click Upload from the computer. Then a new window will appear, locate the image. Please select it and click the Open button to place your image in the slide.

  • To add an online image, click Search the web. Google Images will appear on the right side of the presentation. Search for an image, select it and click Insert.

  • To use an image stored in your Google Drive, click Drive. Google Drive will appear, select your desired image, then click Insert.
  • Click Photos to insert an image from your Google Photos library.
  • Click By URL to insert an image by entering its URL.
  • Click Camera to add an image from a camera. Make sure it is connected to your computer successfully.
  • Note: you can drag and drop your image from your device to the slide.

  • Open your Google Slides presentation.
  • Choose the image that needs to be cropped.
  • Click the Crop image button on the toolbar, or right-click on your image and select Crop image, or simply double click the image. You will see black handles appearing, drag them to adjust the cropping area. When you are done, press ESC or ENTER. You can click anywhere outside the image too.

  • Mask an image. You can fit an image into a specific shape.
  • Select the image. Then click the arrow next to the Crop image button. Now, choose a shape that best suits your needs. It will mask your image instantly.

  • Click and drag the colored handles to adjust that shape.
  • Finally, you are able to reset an image back to its original state. Select that image, click the Reset image button on the toolbar. You can right-click on the edited image and select Reset image too.

  • After that, the cropped image will return to its original form.
